an introduction

Without the feeling of university always breathing down my neck, I had a copious amount of time after work and on my days off to write and write and write. Although I started off my days as a university drop-out in a good way - writing good pieces of work - I quickly realized that the things I'd learned in creative writing were almost holding me back. While editing, I would often doubt my work, and every page of my manuscripts were littered with chicken scratch and profanities. Learning more about the writing process meant that I was taking much longer to finish my stories, but that what I was writing was infinitely better than anything I had written before.
